Challenging Stretch Cue Card

For live coaching use — spot the trigger, pick a question, stay silent for the answer

1. Self-Limiting Beliefs

Client says: "I'm not cut out for that," "I'm not ready," "I'd fail."

  • What evidence do you have for that? Against it?
  • If you were the right person, what would you do first?
  • What's one small, safe way to test that belief this week?

2. Unchecked Assumptions

Client says: "Leadership won't go for it," "They don't care as much as I do."

  • What makes you so sure?
  • What would you learn by testing that assumption?
  • What's the risk of finding out you're wrong?

3. Safe or Vague Goals

Client says: "Next level… not sure what it looks like," "Maybe I should lower expectations."

  • What's the boldest version of this goal?
  • Describe that next level as if it were already happening.
  • What would scare you a little because it matters so much?

4. Admitting Inaction or De-Prioritization

Client says: "I haven't done anything on it," "I let that drop," "It's easy to deprioritize."

  • If nothing changes, what's the cost?
  • What's one thing you could do this week to restart momentum?
  • What would make this non-negotiable for you?

5. Metaphors That Reveal Mindset

Client says: "50 mph fastballs… these are 100," "Foot off the gas."

  • What would it take to make 100 mph your new normal?
  • How can you put your foot back on the gas this week?
  • If you could change the metaphor, what would it be?
